There is something a little magical about a dessert that feels indulgent without trying too hard. These baked pears, featured in the Netflix series With Love, Meghan Holiday Celebration, bring that effortless sort of elegance to any holiday table. They turn simple ingredients into a dish that smells like cinnamon and cozy evenings, with soft caramelised fruit, a hint of ginger, and a touch of sweetness from honey or maple syrup.
Whether you serve them after a long festive lunch or as a relaxed dessert by the tree, they always look stunning with very little fuss. Add candied nuts and a spoonful of yogurt and you have a seasonal treat that tastes like comfort and celebration in every bite.
Ingredients
Bosc pears (enough for 1 per person)
Unsalted butter, to taste
Pinch of ground cinnamon, to taste
Pinch of ground ginger, to taste
Lemon zest, to taste
Honey or maple syrup, to taste
Method
Preheat oven to 180C (375F). Cut the pears in half and gently scoop out the cores with a melon baller or cut out with a paring knife. Place them face up on a baking sheet or in a baking dish. Place a small pat of butter into the well of each half where the core once was. Top each with a pinch of cinnamon, a pinch of ginger, a bit of lemon zest, and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, depending on your preference. Bake for 20 minutes or until tender and caramelized. Remove from the oven and let sit for 10 minutes.
Serve topped with candied nuts and a dollop of yogurt or ice-cream. Enjoy!
