At Avani Rio Novo Venice, art isn’t just hung on walls, it’s part of the atmosphere. The hotel has launched Serenissima, a bold and immersive exhibition by British artist Jeff Robb, in collaboration with Cris Contini Contemporary. Running until 14 November 2025, the exhibition transforms the hotel’s shared spaces into a living, breathing gallery, free to explore for guests and the public alike.
Following the success of last year’s art partnership, Avani Rio Novo once again brings contemporary creativity into its day-to-day experience. Set in the heart of Venice’s Dorsoduro district, the hotel’s commitment to cultural engagement is front and centre, blending design, technology and emotion in a uniquely Venetian way.

A Dreamlike Lens on Femininity, Nature and Perception
Serenissima is anything but a traditional show. Known for his pioneering work in lenticular photography, Robb blends classical inspiration with cutting-edge digital techniques to create artworks that shift and evolve as viewers move around them. The result is a series of visual illusions that invite reflection—on form, movement, and the fragile beauty of perception.
Throughout the hotel’s public areas, art becomes part of the environment:
- In the breakfast room, still life nod to classical themes while playing with bold composition.
- In the corridors, Robb’s Rorschach Flower series transforms digitally sculpted tulips into shimmering, surreal forms.
- In the 8 Millimetri restaurant and meeting spaces, feminine silhouettes float dreamily, echoing the elegance and romance of Venice.
- Outside, the mirrored Affinity sculpture reflects the surrounding garden—drawing guests into moments of stillness and connection.

Art in Dialogue with Place
Cristian Contini, founder of Cris Contini Contemporary, describes the exhibition as “a dialogue with the hotel’s architecture and spirit. Serenissima captures the timeless essence of Venice and reimagines it through Jeff’s poetic lens.”
By bringing Robb’s multidimensional works into the everyday rhythm of hotel life, the exhibition invites people to experience art outside the traditional white-cube gallery. It’s sensory, dynamic, and completely in sync with Venice’s layered beauty.

A Cultural Stay in the Heart of Dorsoduro
Just steps from Campo Santa Margherita and surrounded by buzzing bacari, world-renowned galleries and meandering canals, Avani Rio Novo Venice offers more than just a place to stay. With its striking glass façade and 144 contemporary rooms, the hotel is a natural extension of the artistic energy that pulses through the Dorsoduro neighbourhood.
This latest collaboration reinforces Avani’s commitment to creating immersive, culturally rich stays, where guests are invited not only to visit Venice, but to experience it through art, architecture and atmosphere.
